SturdyFirst the cane arrived timely and packaged well, when I removed it from the packaging the cane had a dark reddish brown stain that is not pleasing. The cane came with a high end tip but the brand isn't carried by Amazon so I will have to find something close to for a spare or order from the manufacturer. Since I am not fond of the color of the stain I decided to carefully sand off the stain starting with 80 grit sandpaper on my Porter Cable block sander and progressing to 100 grit and so on up to 400 grit. What I discovered was that my cane is made of red oak, where they decided to put the bend is like some other pictures that others sent in, the grain looked like it was going to pop because the maker decided to not pay attention to the way the grain is running. Also the maker sanded across the grain with a power belt sander leaving some deep grooves that were hard to get out, and of course the dark stain was impossible to remove all from the open grain of the oak so I just went with it and left the cane natural color and the residue of the dark stain enhancing the oak grain. Currently I have 7 coats of satin poly on the cane and when I'm finished I will come back with a couple of pictures, all in all a wood cane is great because one can adjust the height by just cutting it to length and besides that with a little hard work you can have a cane of beauty to keep you're bad knee from making you tumble.Sturdy. Well made.I say go for it not a bad price seems to hold me well and I weigh in between 280 and 290Diameter is to large, the hook is to narrow for a mans hand, and the finish on the hook is to rough for constant use.Did not receive instructions on how to adjust cane to my height .. tried product review .. no helpThe cane is nice and perfect for my needs. It is a simple and plain wooden cane (which I prefer), and certainly lives up to its advertising. Actually, it is attractive and extremely sturdy! The stained finish is just right. And the price is fantastic. The one main concern that I noticed from many reviewers (and experienced myself) was regarding the two rather large adhesive "product" stickers on the cane itself. True, they are adhered VERY VERY VERY VERY strong and snug to the cane and will not simply peel off without damaging the wood and/or stain. Almost like a "paper tattoo" on wood!! That is primarily why I rated this 4-stars instead of 5-stars.But I read from another buyer that he had used "goof-off" and a paper towel to solve that problem. He was right! So I used my always trusty goof-off as well, along with my fingernails and a paper towel--and after several minutes of intense heavy scrubbing and using multiple paper towels, the stickers and the adhesive were completely removed without any permanent damage to the cane or the stain (OR my extremely fragile nerves!!).I am a little surprised that the suppliers would even attach such super-strong stickers to the wooden cane in the first place--at least ones that took such special dedicated effort to remove. This is especially true given all the negative comments regarding that one single problem by MANY other buyers/reviewers. If I were the seller, I would start listening to my customer base more. But after I read and used the "goof-off" trick, everything is now ok. Maybe a hint from the sellers to the buyers up front about that solution might make things a lot easier for everyone. My thanks to the other reviewers who shared this solution and got me past a very maddening start!! Otherwise the cane is just what I wanted and needed. Now I can once again race along the floor just like the champion long-distance runner I always imagined myself to be, but NEVER WAS!! (HA! Getting old doesn't stop the dreams, does it??)I like them they were just the right height and the rubber tip stays onI like the fact that they were just the right height didn’t have to modify their plenty sturdy handle feels good and the rubber tip as I said stays onI weigh 235lbs and this cane is plenty strong enough for me. The handle is a little small for my extra large hands but does allow a comfortable three finger grip. I am 5'9" and the length was sufficient enough that I had to cut off about two inches. The rubber end piece is good quality and provides good grip on most surfaces. My best guess would be that the wood is ash stained to appear like walnut. The finish seems thin and I don't expect it to last long but may result in a very nice patina. Overall a very good deal and quite a nice looking cane in my opinion.Great cane, only issue are the stickers used, such as the "Weight limit is 250 lbs", and the other sticker, they do not come off cleanly and leave residue, so prepare to peel.. unless I'm just inept with sticker removal. Otherwise great cane!An ageing pal of mine who tends to hobble around these days said he couldn't find a cane that he could hook over his forearm because they all have handles at a right angle to the shaft. And, he said, he wasn't having anything to do with metal canes, which make him think of old folks "homes" and hospitals and other unpleasant things. So, of course, I went on line and found him just what he was looking for in about two minutes. I wouldn't, myself, call this a "deluxe" cane. A Deluxe cane, in my view, is one that has a rapier hidden inside, or, at least, a flask for Napoleon Brandy. Still, this is a very fine looking cane. It's early days yet, but it looks as if it will last longer than my pal.I bought this cane to replace my ergonomic one as the latter cannot be hooked onto anything and I spend more time picking it up off the floor than I care to think about...the umbrella hook in this cane is excellent for hooking onto the back of a chair etc. I bought the walnut version instead of the oak. Love itI switched from a quad cane to this. Works great. Nice and solid, and the height was good with out modification.I recommend this product. Was $25 when I ordered.
