Just like the show its based on, despite the impressionism, speculative elements, ugly designs and horribly outdated science from the late 90s, it shows an interesting insight of live in the mesozoic age.I had previously owned a copy of this book but it was sold at a garage sale unbeknownst to me. When I saw that Amazon had the book at such a great price, I couldn't say no. When I was younger, I would simply look at all of the pictures. The photographs throughout the book are astounding. However, when I received this new copy, I actually began to read the book. Each chapter reads almost like a story; chronicling the live of a specific dinosaur. The book is at once informative and entertaining. I would recommend this for any dinosaur enthusiast out there. Whether they are looking for something for their kids or for themselves, this Natural History makes a great addition to anyone's literary collection.Exactly what my son wantedThis book is what it is, however the customer service from this vendor was GREAT! I ordered the book thinking that it would only take a few days to get, but when I finished the transaction, I was told 10-12 days. I contacted the vendor and after explaining that I need it before Dec 2 as it was a gift for a 12 yr old boy in a homeless family shelter and needed to be picked up on that date , they shipped it 2 days delivery at no extra cost.Loved the book, had some minor wear and tear but otherwise great condition.A truly exceptional book about dinosaurs that is reflective of the Walking with Dinosaurs series. I purchased this for my son 5 years ago and now, at 10, he still keeps this book on hand for quick reference. It's a big book but chock-full of facts that are well-organized and easy to read accompanied by fabulous graphics.Though it came without its dust cover, it is in good condition. My boy enjoys its content very much and we hope to keep it on the shelf for awhileExcellent source of informationIf you enjoyed the incredible television series of the same name, then you simply have to add this book to your library. Just for good measure, after watching the series and buying the book, I then bought the TV series on video! Of course a great deal of guesswork has gone into all this, because we can never know for sure what colour these creatures were or exactly what sounds they made, but the producers have done a great job working within the limits of the info available to them such an unimaginably long time after the event. The book is a feast of fascinating photo's and must make anybody wonder about these animals who ruled the world long before man. If this book doesn't make a dinofan out of you, nothing will! This the first of 2 books issued to accompany the BBC series "Walking with Dinosaurs".The book covers the dinosaur era,255-65 million years ago, which followed the reptile era and preceded the mammel era. There are 6 chapters 1) new blood 2)time of the titans 3)a cruel sea 4)Beneath a giants wings 5)spirits of the silent forest and 6)death of a dynasty. All very well wrritten and esearched but many of the illustrations are far to dark.As a lover of Dinosaurs I really enjoyed the documentary dvd tv series so decided to purchase the accompanying book. The writing is bold and illustrations bright and dynamic, the book is story driven as opposed to being encyclopaedic, so it’s a refreshing experience. Loved itPrompt delivery, in good condition and very enjoyable to read as well as very informative for kids!Present for dinosaur obsessed child. He loves it. Probably not aimed for his age but it features all the animals from the series which he has watched so has learnt lots of interesting facts from it.
