I realize that vendors want to change their product to keep things fresh. But sometimes a guys just wants to wear the same shoe for 5 or 10 straight years!I used to wear an 827. Then an 828. Then a 900 something. Now this 840. Can't I just have the same dang shoe?My concern is that not all 800 and 900 series shoes are made equal. Some have cheaper materials than others. That is the trouble with online purchasing. It's tough to evaluate quality. In this case, these are well made shoes. I expect them to last a while. I have 3 previous New Balance pairs of shoes in various states of usability. I choose the right pair of shoes depending on the likely hood of getting them more messed up. Reserving my newest pair (these shoes) for only when I don't expect bad weather. I expect these to last me a good year using this technique. :)Maybe you are like me, and the SL-2 last is the only athletic shoe that will fit your feet. I've tried numerous other brands and other new balance shoes, and nothing fits without the SL-2 last. Unfortunately NB is not making many shoes with this last that are 4E in width. I am extremely upset with New Balance for changing the 883. These new shoes fit well, but as for looks, they make me feel like I should be power walking in a shopping mall while wearing a nylon jogging suit, or perhaps working in a hospital. New Balance, PLEASE make some more fashionable shoes in the 4E width with the SL-2 last. ^^^UPDATE%%%% Check out my review of the 840v3. You might want to check out that shoe if you like the 883I have worn this shoe for several years, and it is an overall great shoe. My one complaint is that these shoes are NOT SLIP RESISTANT. One teaspoon of water on a tile or linoleum floor and you can break your neck. I had a bad fall a couple of years ago while wearing these shoes under just such conditions. Given that a lot of senior citizens and other people who have mobility issues wear this type of shoe, I think it's damned near criminal that they don't make them with a slip resistant sole. I have written to them about this, and got no response. This is ripe for a law suit. Otherwise, an excellent shoe.I ordered these shoes, in size 10 4E, received them, tried them on, and sent them back the same day I received them. The reason that I sent them back was that the fit was not as I expected it to be. I have old New Balance shoes, model 587, which I bought about nine, or ten, maybe, years ago. They are biult, I believe, on the SL-2 last, they are in size 10 4E, and they fit perfectly. These shoes, MW840, in the same size, and also built on the SL-2 last, did not fit as well as my old 587. Now, the advantage of these, MW840, shoes is that they are not heavy. The weight of the shoes which I recived (MW840), in size 10 4E, is approximately 766 grams ( approximately 1.69 pounds), for the pair. With respect to price, they look like cheap shoes, not as expensive shoes (in my opinion). If their price were $65-70 (US), I would give them 4 stars, 4.5 stars, maybe. But at the price almost $105 (which I paid for the black version), or $100 (which was approximate price for the white version, when I was buying these shoes), I cannot give them more than three stars. Pacific.I have peripheral neuropathy in both feet and I am on a consistent search for walking shoes that I can stay in for more than a few hours. I am able to take my daily 3 mile walk now and my feet are relatively not as sore as my feet tend to get. I use them as my daily getting around shoes as well and can stand to be in them for a little longer than four hours. New Balance has been the only brand that has worked for me. I hope they don’t discontinue this model. I buy a new pair every 6 months and will buy these again.I need shoes that hold up well on concrete floors. I've worn less expensive shoes of different makes, and my feet were in pain after about four hours. Just finished seven hours on my feet with these. VERY happy with their performance. It's worth the price. UPDATED.... I've now worn these for a few weeks and am VERY impressed with their performance. I work in retail on a concrete surface, and am on my feet for eight hours---walking, not just standing. Normally, my feet are "tired" and ache after work. Not so much with these shoes. I don't even supplement the pad with Dr Scholls or similar products. I am extremely satisfied with this purchase.I have had more than ten procedures (several hammertoe corrections, multiple tendon releases, Morton’s Neuroma removal, arthritis, meniscus surgery, etc) over the past seven years and continue to have additional issues. These shoes, when paired with my orthotics, provide a cushioned, comfortable, stable platform for me. Excellent, comfortable toe box! Because of my issues, I am more comfortable wearing shoes than not and these are my latest shoes of choice. I like them so much, I’ve already ordered another pair.I am 58, 6’5” and weigh 250lb...my shoe size is 14B/D.I’ve been wearing New Balance shoes since 1981 and these are the most comfortable shoes I have worn.I bought these shoes because I have severe neuropathy and the sizing options met my needs (size 15). It had the option of a 4 E width which turns out to be perfect for my toes (large toe box), but too wide for the rest of my foot. So, I wear heavy socks If New Balance or another company could make a sneaker with a wide toe box but regular size mid and heel, it would be perfect for me. Style was a little dull, but with the Stephen Curry 2 model being released, it now is cool!AS ADVERTISED, Prompt Delivery, RecommendPerfect size. My husband only wear's New Balance and I was looking all over for his 11 Wide size. Thank you for carrying them.Great ShoesNice shoes fast serviceThey fit exactly as expected
