I have used the other two major brands and like most everything about them except the PRICE!I bought these because I wanted the Z pole style to fit them into my day pack, instead of the collapsibles that I have to strap to the outside.I took them on a rugged Colorado hike where the elevation gain and loss really necessitated trekking poles.I LOVE THESE! I have far more pros than cons for them so far. They felt solid as I leaned hard into them going up rugged rocks—I’ve had squeeze clamps give way in similar situations, and I didn’t worry about these once. The cork grips are smooth and such a nice touch, especially at this price. For this hike, I used the tip protectors, and they felt very secure—I have not had the chance to use the other tip styles yet with this set, but I have with others and they all do what they’re supposed to do. And it’s nice that they’re also included in the price! The only ding is that they’re slightly heavier than the big name models, but I barely noticed. As an active hiker, I give these a great rating! These inexpensive poles supported me up and down miles and miles of rugged terrain in Europe. The handles are of good proportions and the straps are supple and easily adjustable. The poles collapse down to a small dimension that goes into a small suitcase which is essential. Poles can not go into carry on bags. I highly recommend these poles.I truly like my new lightweight poles already after one hike. Basically after a bit of trial, I figured them out! Must wait for that snap of metal piece to hole pole. But.... a 5 star but.... that darn screws is difficult for my old hands to tighten. If I could e more sure of its then that top pole could set in a better place.I do like the various hand holds so much.I'll use these a lot!Thx but you've got a screw loose!Hiking poles come in a carrying bag with 3 different sets of tips. Easy to put together and sturdy for hiking over different terrain. Bought for an upcoming trip to Scotland and needed something that could pack easily. These are a great set of poles. I use them for walking and hiking. Using the poles helps me have better posture while I walk and keeps t knees and back from hurting as much from hiking. My only complaint is that the wrist straps could be designed better in order to lock in place-they slip loose while using sometimes.Easy to put together and break down. They look good and appear to be strong enough. Happy for now, time will tell. These trekking sticks fold and unfold easily to fit in one's luggage. The lightweight bag to hold them is a plus.I used them while touring through the British Isles on dirt paths, gravel, paved roads and cobblestones. They were a great assist to maintain balance and stability on long walks while touring.I use these as a wading staff while flyfishing the rugged mountain streams of WV. As I age I felt insecure wading big rivers. As an ER manager I witnessed a catastrophic injury from a fall into a boulder strewn stream and decided it was time to do something. I only use one at time but at the great price for the pair I figured I had my next one or a loaner already on hand. Also works well hiking to and from the streams. Gave this old man a few more years on the streams. Great bargain when you look at it that way.Buy cheap buy twice, right? WRONG! Not in this case (though to be fair I have often regretted buying cheap).I have been using these poles for a couple of months now and they have been fantastic. They are strong, stable and reliable. They are easy to set up and break down. They feel like a really good quality pole.I use them for hiking in the Mourne mountains weekly and love them.Would buy them again in a heartbeat.Excellent walking poles, very high quality materials. The quick lock action is soooooo much easier than having to adjust multiple points on each stick, and thus setting up or taking down the poles takes about two seconds each pole, the hand grips and straps are very comfy, first use going up Ben Lomond via the expert route I didn't once think about my grip or the poles, they just performed, same up Ben Vorlich.Trekology have obviously put some serious thought and research into these poles, so much so that those big gigantic outdoor companies should be ashamed of some of their prices. So buy these and get yourself something else as well with all the money you've just saved.A very very good product! If you are 5feet 8 inches tall make sure you order the short set. I ordered the longer set and found that they had to be adjusted right down to the minimum setting. Being Over 78 years of age I expect to get shorter so will have to invest another £24 on the short set in the next 10 years or so!In all seriousness these are a terrific pair of hiking poles at a very keen price.Setting the poles up initially was a bit difficult. It requires quite a strong pull to get the spring loaded retainer out but I guess that was just down to the newness. It sprung out readily after the initial set up.Very pleased with my purchase and am looking forward to many happy hours hiking with my new acquisition. After a knee injury a couple of decades ago I started using poles to take some of the strain off it on long walks. They made a big difference to my range, pain threshold and balance, especially on uneven or downhill stretches. The problem has always been that one pole is good for free hand 'cruising' but two poles are much better for the awkward bits. The compact folded size of these brilliant poles means I can have the second hanging from my rucksack chest strap ready for use in seconds rather than having to stop, take my pack off, unstrap the pole which has been catching branches, taking people's eyes out when I turn round, etc., then put the pack back on before continuing. And I love that they fit inside a small daysack, meaning I can take them everywhere rather than being a bit lethal round museums, in pubs, etc. with their longer cousins. I had some reservations about trusting my weight to the cam clip on the adjusting section rather than the twist lock mechanism I've had till now, but they have behaved flawlessly in some very steep and slippery terrain over the last few days. Many thanks Trekology! For the perfect expedition I recommend their superb backpackable folding chairs and table too. A great brand with great customer service! And no, my mum doesn't work for them!Having a medical condition that affects my balance I need poles to walk comfortably any reasonable distance. After a lot of research of the 'top' pole manufacturers specifications I had narrowed down my preferred options but also had a budget to keep to. Lightweight aircraft aluminum for strength, easily collapsible to be able to take on holiday and adjustment for height, comfortable handle with adjustable wrist straps and of course it would have to have good reviews from others that had used them - all at a reasonable price. Usually you have to compromise on one or two things on your wish list but these seem perfect in every way for my needs and budget. Only 4 stars because I haven't given them a reasonable test yet, that will come in May, so I should be able to give an update then.
