I couldn't wait to use this product. I popped it in the microwave as soon as it arrived. It's now draped over my shoulders and feels wonderful. There is a little odor but it's not offensive.. Well worth the price.If you're a smaller person and your soreness is mild, this may work for you. If you're an active person really trying to help your neck, shoulders, and back out, this probably won't help much.The product is not small, but it won't be quite big enough for a lot of people. I'm a 5'10" male and I definitely wish it reached farther down my back. If you're in your mid 5's or lower, the size is likely fine.The weight of the product feels really good, and it will stay where you want it to stay.This product retains neither heat or cold for very long. You can have it in your freezer over night and the cold will disappear in a handful of minutes. In fact, for both heat and cold, the instructions that come with the product claim it is only good for 1.5 to 2 minutes. Claimed cooling time is 2 hours in the freezer and 60 seconds in the microwave (but you must wait 12 minutes before heating again). In my experience, the cold seems to last somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes (I usually have the product in the freezer over night, which is where I store it) and the heat seems to last around the advertised 2 minutes.One side of the product has a much softer fabric. I assume that side is intended to rest on the skin. That side is never hot and never cold. It's not a big deal because you can use the other side, but it's pointless to have that side covered with that fabric.The company that sells this product seems to be a genuinely nice company. The product is packaged with a nice note. It is also packaged with instructions. The instructions are printed on a thicker paper (like poster board) for durability. I've not contacted their customer service, but based on the rest of my experience I'm going to assume their service is good.As previously stated, if you're a smaller person and your soreness is mild, you may find this product useful. If you're an active person and really trying to help your muscles, this isn't the product for you. I was going to rate the product a 3, but I've rated the product a 4 because it does not advertise itself for athletes or very active people. It is probably helpful for its intended demographic.My wife has an elaborate Electric shoulder massage/heater. It cannot compete with this Amazon shoulder heater that heats in the microwave. I can pop it in the microwave for two minutes and it gives me about 30 minutes of warmth. I can place it underneath a fleece pull over and zip up the pull over and it forces the pressure on the heating pad to provide a wonderful sensation of “deep” muscle warmth. I had to re-order a second one because I had mistakenly put the original one in the washing machine and ruined it. I am 69 years old and I do a lot of resistance training with my back and shoulders using “The Total Gym”, advertised by the martial artist, Chuck Norris. It’s sooths my sore shoulder muscles when I have waited three days to exercise and then I tax my “senior citizen” muscles to the point of soreness. This heating pad is wonderful and I highly recommend it. Don’t make a mistake like me and put it in your laundry bag by mistake and ruin it by washing. The instructions clearly state do not wash in a machine.This product is fantastic and precisely what I was searching for. There were many other options, but the rave reviews on this one sold me. I'll start with the design....it warms both shoulders and neck all in one swoop, great for relieving stress tension, or in my case a pinched nerve and a shoulder problem. I'm old, I'm falling apart - but I use this several times throughout the day (warm) for excellent relief of my symptoms. The design leaves me able to actually walk around with it draping over the shoulders the way it does, and sitting upright in my office chair for work. Other neck wrap styles I've had in the past left me with having to stay put and propped on the couch, I was very pleased when I received this and tried it to find that I could go about my day and move around. I've even clipped it in the front and have been able to reach & bend for instance doing laundry! I'd also like to make mention that the seller has been exceptionally pleasant, I've reviewed the seller separately but thought I'd mention here as well. Other reviewers make note of the smell of the rice with this product, it was very noticeable at first for me but did not bother me, I've had perfumed ones in the past and didn't like them, I'll take the faint scent of rice any day. This actually is fading a little more with each use anyway, but if you do prefer a scent, there are instructions included in the purchase for aromatherapy use with essential oils. The pad fits perfectly around the neck and lays nicely on top of the shoulders. One thing is I wish it had an enclosure where each piece meets in the front of the neck to secure. It isnt a necessity but I personally would like that. Pad stays in place. Exceptional quality. Comfortable, not to heavy. Same quality as the ones in my physical therapy office I go to. Scent is not strong, just enough for perfect relaxation. Stays warm for 20- 30 minutes. Do not ever overheat any brand of these pads because you think the pad will stay warmer longer. You can burn the pad or yourself. The filling inside these pads can only hold heat for a certain amount of time no matter who you buy them from. I havent tried it cold yet. I'm going to buy one for my lower back. Also to clean just wipe with disenfectant wipes. I'm on my feet all day at work and my neck and shoulders hurt so bad. This product has made an amazing difference by stopping the pain, soreness, muscle cramping and stiffness!! Thank you for an exceptional product!!I have trapped nerves in my neck and a frozen should (a wreck basically!!) and needed something to help with the pain.Saw this advertised and read various reviews, mainly good and thought I'd get one to try.Firstly, it's heavy but that makes it more comforting around the neck, also the pressure helps relieve muscle tension.Secondly, pop the item in the microwave for about 90 secs and then importantly refold it and pop it back for another 30 secs or so, that way you ensure it's evenly hot all over.Thirdly, drape around neck and shoulders and relax.I would have given 5 stars if only it stayed warmer for longer than 20 to 30 mins, but that isn't a problem because you can easily reheat.Overall, I would definitely recommend this heated wrap because it does help and is so comfortable.Have had wrecked shoulders for years due to my early pre-retirement profession and spent hundreds on massages, so called pain patches, etc., etc., so was quite sceptical, but am SO happy with this padded neck/shoulder heated pad. First of all it really does stay where it is put as it is well filled with a wide span overhanging the shoulders, back and front. Next it folds up easily to pop in the microwave, and stays wonderfully hot for 20+ minutes, but the really good instructions show how often you can re-heat safely so actually wore it all yesterday evening. Can not recommend it more highly, seems a much better product than the other ten or more I looked at.I can only review on short term use but so far I think it is absolutely brilliant. I have a long term health condition which affects my neck and shoulders and this pad provides heat in exactly the right places. Having read reviews I was a bit concerned as to whether the weight would be a problem but so far there is no issue at all, in fact I think it may help to correct my posture which can only improve my condition in the long term. I would definitely recommend.I'm thankful I got a discount on the price. For a heat pad, it's very expensive. It's quite big for the microwave and I had to keep stopping it to readjust, as the microwave glass plate kept stopping. The neck pack is quite bulky to wear. It holds the heat for a bare minimum of time and it didn't really reduce any pain. For the money, it's not worth it. I've got a smaller microwave pack that's much better, it's just small and I wanted a bigger one. Sadly this hasn't really worked. Not one I'd be recommending.Too big and bulky to absorb enough heat in the microwave. It states to pop in the microwave 2-3 mins. I did 5 mins and no way enough heat. To make matters worse it's no returns! I did message Amazon however, and they refunded my money. The item then went in the bin.
