I love these heating pads and so do my cats. That is why I have ordered four and gifted two to a local wildlife shelter. I keep the house at 68 degrees so they pretty much use them constantly as you can tell by the fur on the cover in the photos. Despite what it looks like, I do wash the covers regularly with no problems. :)I love that I can keep these on all the time. I know when they get unplugged, because suddenly my cats want to snuggle with me (for warmth) rather than be on the heating pads. I’ve had great luck with the pads I’ve purchased lasting and continuing to perform well. I bought my first one over three years ago and it held up to when I first bought it until my foster dog sneakily chewed up the interior corner right by the cord and then it stopped working. The dog was fine, no fire (it was on when he did this). But after he chewed through the cloth and plastic covers, it didn’t heat and just flashed when I turned it on. I hadn’t noticed it had been chewed until I saw the flashing lights and inspected it. Then, of course, I had to throw it away. And then I bought another one due to cat demand since they don’t like to share or cuddle with each other. It looks like some people haven’t had as good of quality versions. I have ordered mine at different times and found the quality pretty consistent. I have also found, for some reason, they are much hotter when the cats (or even my kindle) lay on them than when they’ve been unused for a few hours and then I touch them. If I have it at full heat it is too hot for the cats. They prefer the pads be kept at level four heat at all times.I like the very low temperature available and the timer options. My orthopedic doctor wants me to use heat, but " human" heating pads get too warm for me and shut off before the job is done. I can see how this would be practically perfect for an animal with joint pain or muscle stiffnessI use this indoors for my short haired skinny senior dog who has arthritis and is cold year round. I’m buying a second one so he has one in the bedroom and one in the living room. It keeps him from always wanting my comfort. I set a waterproof blanket over it. He naps so peacefully. It works well except occasionally shows an error. I have to set it to 24 hours daily but worth every penny.Product is under my new litter.Instead of a standard heated cat bed it's nice that I can turn up the temperature when I add thicker blankets so the kittens can still maintain their body temperature. I love that this has an automatic timer or it can be on continuously. Overall good product. We also have three German shepherds and I'm sure this would work great for them as well!I have to geriatric kitties! Bought one for each. The found their warm spots immediarely.I used this product to maintain the body temperature on some young sick kittens. I really like that you can control the temperature and set it for 24hrs.I got this for a cat with some health issues and probably some arthritis. I put it on my bed in a corner. IN teh evening I turn it on and my cat which usually right agains't me, sprawls out on this. She really enjoys it. The adjustments of temperature are good and the timer is pretty good. It does have a jump from 2 hours, to 4 and then to 8. I would like one in the 5 or 6 range. You need to read elsewhere to see what temperature is good for your type of pet. My big complaint is buttons. They require pressure on spots. In the dark, there is no way to find the spots. There are no lights for those spots and the feel is smooth. It seems safe enough, but who knows. The power cord is covered. A large dog could easily chew through it, but I would think it would have done that with house cords if he wanted to.I use this pad in my whelping area for newborn puppies and it’s very important that the temperature stays consistent. With a Heat sensor gun I check the temperature regularly and I’m always relieved to find that it’s been a consistent temperature for my puppies. Easy to clean and the cord is sturdy.Day 1, gently placed cat on very thin duvet on top of pad. Cat appreciated warmth and settled (I didn't try to force the issue, she had to believe it was her idea). I don't think I've ever seen her stretch out so much. She curls up in a ball when she's cold, so she was clearly super warm.Day 2, she won't go near it.No idea what happened. Was it too warm (top setting), did she fall asleep on it and wake up too hot? Did she try to claw it - not that that should have an adverse effect, surely? Is there some electromagnetic interference she's not appreciating (if so, why was she so keen on day 1?)I've tried putting it beneath more layers of duvet - but she's not fooled.I've tried putting it under the sofa cushion, but at over 4 inches thick, the heat never reaches the top of it (although it's not as icy cold as the other cushions). This is all so I can save myself the £100 monthly gas bill - this is what happens when I leave my central heating on all day for the cat.I bought a different one previously that's supposed to heat up only when a pet is on it, but of course she wouldn't go on it so I couldn't tell if it was working or not. This one definitely works. Heating levels make a difference (tried 3 and 6).Plugged it into a device to measure the amount of electricity, it seems to be 60W on 5 and 6 and nothing on lower, but that might be because it's already at level 6 temperature. So I suppose it uses (up to) the same as an "old fashioned" 60W light bulb?I've managed to fool her by putting it on the cold tile floor, with the thin rug over that and a yoga mat on top of that. She's currently on top of the yoga mat in the cat mat spot. So far so good! Her tail is stretched out across the cat mat, but the rest of her is fairly balled up. Perhaps once the surrounding area heats up (and remains heated 24/7) it'll be even warmer in that spot.[*** Edit - one month later. ***]Just answered someone's question, so thought I'd pop back on.I've promoted the mat - it's now on top of the rug / below the yoga mat - and she goes on it happily. I've had to set it to level 4 though, as after an hour or more (not sure how long, it happens overnight) I get ERR on levels 5 and 6. Surely it should just cut out and cool down rather than ERR if it gets too warm? I'd prefer to be able to use all levels. Hopefully the heating bill will be reduced from this month, since I'm able to switch the heating off when I go to work now :) I'm guessing that the reduction in my gas bill in just one month might be enough to cover the cost of the mat![*** Edit - 6 weeks later. ***]Started getting ERR on level 4 after about a week. Dropped to level 3, now getting ERR on that too. It's back up to level 6 at the moment and it's doing the circling thing, which I assumes means working its way up to the correct temperature. When that ERR I'll probably try dropping back to level 3, but if I keep getting ERR on level 3 I'll have to send it back, it's no good forgetting about it because the weather's getting better - I did that with the last mat (from elsewhere). I'll contact them and ask about why it's doing it and update here.As my cat got older and a bit skinner (was nearly 21) he really felt the cold and would visibly cuddle into you whenever he could. This was lovely but we couldn't always be with him 24/7 so I was worried he would be chilly in Winter. I was happy that we had this item to support his comfort in his last few months - I had it on permanently and he loved his little warm corner. Its really well made and works a treat. He has gone now bless him but I know he would be giving it 5 stars too :)Weak. Very weak. Even on its highest setting, Level 06, you can only just tell its above ambient room temperature - and that's after running for hours. It will never heat up to its claims. Never.I work outside and my Regatta heated jacket has been amazing during the winter period. Sadly the output of this pet blanket is woeful. The techology exists, but isn't present in this mat.Got one of these for my arthritic senior Jack russel x staff. Its fairly big shes not very long but covers the matt when on it. Would need a bigger one imo for my border collie. It didn't feel warm to the touch but I sat on it for a few minutes and could definitly feel the warmth. My house is pretty cold and she was panting with it on level six so had to turn it down to 3! I haven't seen much improvement in her limping, but combined with the arthritis meds from the vet I think it may help. Not very thick so wouldn't recommend it on its own, I laid it in her existing bed. Removal cover is good and soft, and the pad underneath is soft plastic like hospital bed mattresses.I bought this because it seemed safe for my house and pets. The last thing you want is a safety hazard which can cause a fire. Doesn’t go as hot as I thought but then again, it is warm enough as too warm would be to much I guess, I use this for one of my two cats, she has rheumatism. I think she suffered an injury and has been limping ever since. They’re not different to us humans so it is this, a lot of mackerel as well so she gets her omega three for her joints. My only complaint so far is the comfort. I would have preferred a nice fury blanket rather than a basic and quite slippery surface. My solution was to use it with a blanket on top. I’ve also got a blanket with aluminium inside which deflects the heat on her other bed if you want a cheaper and. Ore practical option than an electric blanket. These electric blankets omit EMC which can be harmful in the long run but I am not too concerned about that to be honest. If your vat suffers rheumatism and a lot of them do, it is medication, a lot of omega 3 and an electric blanket.
