I bought the smaller heating pad a couple years ago for client's dogs and I bought a different brand for my own dog that did not last. I returned to this brand which works perfectly and just stays at a low temperature always. I even have it on a Wi-Fi plug so I can turn it on and off from my phone and even set a timer for it, to only be on overnight.I read other reviews but did not have any of the problems noted by others. It is not too hot, my cat loved it in the winter (I have put it away until the weather gets cold again). I only wish it was oval because it does not fit in her bed. It is too stiff to fit into an oval or round bed.My cat sleeps on it every evening in the winter time and naps on it during the dayWell made, excellent quality - my cats love to sleep on it.I foster animals so I use it under the fluffy blanket of the newborn fur babies in they're whelping area for both puppies and kittens since they can't regulate they're body temp for two weeks after birth. My geriatrics love it as well (I have a few of these heaters) since like humans, they loose that good brown insulating fat that covers our bones and organs as they age so the old fur kids feel cold most of the time. Run it 24/7 for them.I am a Pomeranian breeder. I have 3 of these pads that I have been using for the last few years. I love them! They never turn off and never get HOT. The temperature is perfect. If you have a litter of puppies, you want only part of the enclosure with the pad, they will get on it when they need it and off of it when they don't. I have recommended this pad to other breeders and will continue to do so.My cast are so obsessed that I bought a second one. I have 3 senior cats. One is very thin so the help with warmth is a welcome relief. Another has pain in her hips and I think the heat provides comfort. The cover is easy to remove and wash as well.I told my mom about it, who got it for her 19 year old tiny runt of a cat. She used to always sleep curled up in a ball, but since my mom got her the heating pad she can sleep sprawled out because her tiny body isn't losing heat. Buy it, your cats (or dogs) will thank you.Okay for starters it has no temperature control and hot is all you get! If you own a cat I would not recommend anyone put their cat right on this pad it is way to hot. I had to put a blanket over it because this thing would burn my cat. It never turns off and the only way to turn it off is to unplug it seems honestly kind of dangerous to me to be honest. If you won a dog not sure cannot speak from experience but if a cat thinks it's too hot I am guessing probably would be for your dog too.I have purchased two of them. I specifically purchased it for my 16 year old four paws baby. Heat is very good for cats. Our three cats fall in love as soon as it warmed up. I leave it plugged in 24/7 so that my older cat has warm bed. I wish that I had purchased it years ago.We have a hairless cat and I got this to keep him warm at night. He got a heat rash from it and because there is no temperature adjustment I had to wrap the heating pad in a blanket before I put it in the covering. Its not super hot but it dose get very warm for the pet and even for a human the longer its on the body the warmer it feels right.Like the cover but its to hot, my small maltese dog will not stay on it. its hotter than my own personnel heating pad. It also smells like burning plastic when on. I had to turn it off.
