I take a walk every day up and down hilly gravel roads, so I need a shoe that is comfortable for a less than smooth walk. I have fibromyalgia and neuropathy in my feet, so most shoes hurt. it's difficult to find shoes that are wearable, but I can wear these for longer than any others that I have. The higher toe box works well on my foot, and I love that it's both light weight and nicely padded on the bottom. This shoe fits very well. I needed an 8 2E and that's half size smaller than the last pairs of New Balance walking shoes I bought. The right heel was a little loose at first, but that was remedied by lacing all the way to the top. The problem is that the laces are very short, so when the shoe is laced to the top I can barely tie the shoe. This is the second pair of NB that I've had with skimpy laces.(Come on NB, you can't possibly save enough money on shorter shoestrings to make it worth the inconvenience it causes your customers.)For my needs, I'd prefer a shoe that's all mesh without the solid material on the top of the toe area. It's not a big deal, just a preference. I like that the mesh makes the shoe lighter and I think mesh looks better than this plastic looking material. I have water resistant NB walking shoes, so I don't need these to withstand much moisture.I haven't ever bought two pairs of shoes in the same style, but I tried to get another pair of these in black on Amazon and Zappos and neither had them in my size. If they become available, I'll buy another pair. It's hard to find just the right walking shoe. I'd like a pair of these WW847s to wear when I go out, the ones I walk in get dusty and dirty after a short time. NB changes their styles so frequently and then it's very hard to find another shoe that works as well. NB is the only brand of walking shoes that I've found that I can wear so I keep trying the styles until I find one that works. As we get older, unfortunately our feet can go through some strange changes. My walking shoes of past years no longer fit and are now very uncomfortable in the toe area and right below the toe area of my feet. I found and purchased the New Balance Aravon Dolly Flat Mary Jane Shoes on Amazon and loved them so much, that I started searching Amazon for walking shoes to see if perhaps I could be successful in locating a good pair.To my surprise, I found a pair of walking shoes that had great reviews, only to find out that they were made by the same company, NEW BALANCE, that makes the Aravon Dolly Flat shoe. So, based on the reviews, I decided to purchase the New Balance Women's WW847 Health Walking Shoe. This is now my second purchase of a pair of New Balance shoes, and again...I am just amazed! Just as with the Aravon Dolly Flat Mary Jane shoes, so it is with these New Balance Women's WW847 Health Walking shoes (9WW), they fit right out of the box....no "break-in" time needed. In all of my shoes, I must wear orthotic insoles. A lot of times, the shoes are not deep enough for the orthotic insoles to comfortably fit. But not so with these shoes, as was the case with my Aravon. As stated in my Aravon Dolly Flat Mary Jane shoes review, I must say again in this New Balance WW847 review, and that is because of the excellent build of this shoe, I can almost get away with not wearing my orthotic insoles. But, because I have the Syono Orthotic Gel Insoles on hand (excellent insoles), I replaced the original insoles with the Syono insoles and the shoes were still a perfect fit and an excellent feel. From a person with hard to fit feet, and now owning and wearing two different pairs of New Balance shoes, I can truthfully say that New Balance makes excellent shoes. As always, I say thank you to those that wrote reviews that helped me to make this purchase.Thank you New Balance for making excellent shoes.SWI started a new job standing on concrete for 12 hours a shift. I was dying! I researched shoes online for a day and a half and talked to several shoe companies and stores. I also spoke with a relative who is on their feet all day in a hospital. She wearsNew Balance WW927WT and New Balance WW928WT. She also adds in an orthopedic insole, (removes the other first);New Balance IPR3020 Pressure Relief Insoles. And then adds a Thorlo Walking Sock. Well, after talking with the New Balance Company, they had told me that these shoes were the same shoe base as the 927's and 928's. But it had mesh on it, which I was hoping for because it will be hot in the summer! I finally decided on THIS shoe WITH the insert and socks. Amazon got them here in 2 days, as I had to have them! They felt like heaven on my feet! So, I thought that these were it! I went to my job and no go. They still hurt. By the end of the third 12 hour shift I was nearly crippled. I am sure that these work under different circumstances; just not standing on concrete all day. I am a person with NO previous foot problems, and have always worn expensive , good supportive shoes. All that I can figure, is that it's the concrete! I presently have another pair of shoes coming that have springs enclosed in the heel AND the front part of the shoe also. They are a new company with patent pending on their design. SpringFlex. I can only hope that they work. If not, I'll probably have to quit this job. But, this shoe is a good shoe. Just not for all day standing on concrete!Ordered size 6 but received size 4 instead, so the only thing I can judge is the look and I was not impressed by that.
