I've now done four of these walks (out of 40) and enjoyed all of them. The book is all you need - although I do take a compass and an OS map as well, I've never had to have recourse to them. The little book fits in a back pocket, so it's handy all the time. The photos are useful and interesting, as is the background information. There's just enough to whet your appetite - and you can always research further online or in other books if you are so inclined. The small maps given in the book are very useful. The only slight criticism I have is of phrases like 'Continue until you get to a gate', or 'After a while you will see a water tower'. It would be helpful to know how far to 'continue', and how long is 'a while'. But I've never found these minor irritations any real problem. You're told how long each walk is, and how long it will take you. I suppose the timings are based on someone scampering round the track without stopping. I have learnt to allow at least one further hour for short walks, and two to three extra hours on walks of six miles or more. Maybe it's just me, but I like to stop to look inside churches, to have a drink at the pub, or just to admire the view and eat my picnic. Bear it in mind!
