I have arthritis in my knees and find it hard to stand for long periods of time and also have a bit of trouble with stairs. I took a 10 day trip to Israel in which we were going strong from early morning until dinner time. There was lots of walking, seeing the sites and stopping to hear from our guide. This walking stick was incredible in that it was helpful with navigating stairs and more treacherous terrain as well as making into a nice little seat when we stopped for longer periods to hear about whatever we were seeing. There were not always places to sit and the other 50 people on my trip sure were jealous whenever I would quickly turn my walking stick into a portable seat! Everyone asked me where I got it and many tried it out. I would not say this would be good for sitting on longer than maybe 15/20 minutes at a time as the seat is not that large or comfortable for longer periods of time but it does the trick nicely when you just need to sit for a few minutes. It is lightweight and easy to carry around all day long. For reference, I am 5'8" and weight 210 lbs. It was sturdy and held my weight just fine. I am SO glad I purchased this! I'm sure I will use it again and again on future travels.When I got it, I thought it was great:1. It was very light and portable2. While the seat is not the most comfortable thing in the world, it does the job, which is the most important thing.3. While it is not the right size for some people, it was fine for me.Unfortunately, a few weeks ago, it broke: the piece that turns to allow the cane to unfold and is used to lock it when it is refolded broke off. So when I sit on it, it is in 2 pieces, rather than 1.It is still useful and when I'm finished sitting, I can put it back together in 1 piece, but it is now a pain to have to deal with when I'm sitting down, because I need to hold the 2nd piece.To add insult to injury, the return period has now expired. It has a 1 year guarantee, but the company is in China, so I'm stuck.I have osteoarthritis in one knee which limits my ability to walk for long distances. I recently purchased this 'cane' for use on cruise excursions. I am practicing with it before the cruise. It's heavier than a cane or trekking pole but not too bad. I'm 5'5" and the length, which is not adjustable, is about right. The seat is definitely not designed for a long comfortable rest but I can sit/perch on it for a quick breather before moving on. Time will tell on how sturdy it is.It works well for me, I'm 5'10 and 125 pounds.The materials are pretty lightweight, the handle/seat flexes noticeably under my weight.Bought this to use at Disney parks/lines. On the negative side it gives off a slight metalic clank while walking and wish the length was adjustable. The seat however is quite ingenious, easy to open and close once you get the hang of it and a life saver on those long cues.It worked for me, beats sitting on the ground. Always there when you need it if you take it with you.Wanted a little seat so I could keep up with the granddaughters in New York City. Those big clunky ones were “no way!” Loved this non-obtrusive cane. Lightweight and works great. Easy to assemble and disassemble. Only draw back is the little seat is so hard you can only sit on it for a short time. Luckily I have a little blowup pad a carried with me. They should incorporate one into the design.Used this cane seat during an Alaskan cruise and was very helpful during long queue lines for embarkation. On shore during the rain, it gave me a dry place to sit while waiting for transportation. Seemed stable and had no issues. I did put a pad in the seat to make it a bit more comfortable but otherwise performed as expected.
