My husband had a slipped disk and had to temporarily use a cane for about 2 months. The handle on this cane broke about 6 weeks in. Until then, it was a solid product, lightweight, easy to fold, and was quite convenient. But cannot recommend for long term use.Okay, so... I'm not elderly, I am 40ish. When I was younger, I always dreamed about having one of those memory foam bean bag things, which look super comfortable. And you know what? My now-husband (then boyfriend) bought one to make me happy. It was a delightful gesture, and I love curling up with him in it. This sounds like a tangent, but hear me out.I don't have problems walking, but getting up off of the bean bag, on the floor, which sometimes forms a divot, can be a real pain. Lots of grunting and straining, you know? So for a long time, I was grabbing the arm of a nearby chair to help myself up, but the chair's arm has begun to get a bit wobbly. In comes this cane, and VOILA. I just flop it next to the bean bag, and I can get up and down much more easily now!My only concern is that the foldable nature of it might make it a little less secure than a full piece cane. For me, it's fine, I won't die or break a hip if it wobbles a bit, and I flop onto the carpet. I would, however, be thoughtful in who I give this to. If you just need a little bit of help somewhere, it's gonna be great. Sciatica, an injury, middle age, getting up and down if you have to do that a lot, sure, absolutely fine for all that. But if you have an especially fragile 90 year old grandma, she might not be the person to get this for. I trust it 99%, but not 100.This cane is just what I was looking for. It is extremely helpful to have a cane available on demand if you are subject to trick knees or sudden bouts of back pain, but dragging a cane with you all the time can be another kind of pain. This cane is lightweight and easy to fold (and unfold), so it is easy to bring along or to keep in the car in case it is needed. It is sturdy and works well,. If you are expecting it to stand upright by itself on anything but perfectly smooth flooring, you may be a bit disappointed, but it is still a great tool to have at hand when needed. The can was comfortable and very light weight. I had to people try it out. The big issue was the foot piece came off very easy. I have never encountered a cane that the bottom part was screwed on. This was not very functional for the people who tried it out.I was so embarrassed that I trusted this thing with an elderly family member who needed a backup cane for my car when I give her rides to the grocery store or the doctor's office. It collapsed.Only for people who are mechanically inclined and even then...I love that this is purple, my favorite color, but I have nothing but complaints after that. The user is 5'7 and if we adjust to the longest size it's still not a comfortable walk without hunching over, but worse, it is incredibly wobbly. It is self standing only on a flat surface and again for a user with end stage arthritis in the knee, having to grapple or bend over to steady the cane just makes this unsafe to use.My husband was not thrilled with this cane...okay he is not happy with any cane but this one not a favorite...but he does use it for around the house from time to timeto me the cane has an odd weight / balance to it. it functions fine but has an odd balance of it's weightMy disabled mother liked this at first, but after a few months the foot started occasionally coming off at random, and it's already looking pretty battered.Bought this cane for my wife for use after a knee replacement. From the start, cane would not stand on its own. Through a few weeks use suddenly the whole bottom foot fell off and I could not fix it without tools. Later at my shop I dissassembled the foot and found that the internal nut had come completely off. Tossed the thing in the trash and purchased a HurryCane as a replacement. We purchased this for my mother who needed it after surgery. After a few uses, the cup at the bottom falls off, despite a few attempts to fix it. It’s a danger for her to use. And we’ve missed the return window, so are stuck with it. Not happy!
